History
In 1943 a group of Free Will Baptists met in a rented building in South Norfolk. The group was
organized into a church and on October 8, 1943, moved to the Fairmount Park section of Norfolk. God’s
hand was upon the church and its new location. Attendance grew to over 1,100 weekly, and the church
went through six building programs.
In 1976, needing room to expand, our church purchased 12 acres on Virginia Beach Blvd., at the edge
of Virginia Beach, and obtained an option on an additional 13 acres. God’s blessings rested upon this endeavor. In April 1979, we moved to our present facility at Gateway, meeting in the school gym until the sanctuary was completed in November. We now have eight buildings with over 100,000 square feet of space.
